A considerable amount of pilgrimage centers
abound in Iran. These pilgrimage centers are mostly the last resting
place or mausoleum of the family members of the Prophet of Islam
Mohammed (S) and every year these pilgrimage centers are host to
millions of Iranian and non-Iranian pilgrims.
The important pilgrimage centers of them all are: the mausoleum of Imam Reza (AS) the eight Imam of the Shiites of the Islamic world in the city of Mash-had; the sanctuary of Hazrat Masumeh the beloved sister of Imam Reza (AS) in Qom; and that of Hazrat Ahmad Ibn Moosa, known as Shah Cheragh, the brother of Imam Reza near the city of Shiraz.
Besides the above mentioned mausoleums in Iran there are also many great and beautiful mosques and churches. These majestic and imposing buildings which were built in past times are of great historical importance. They appear beautifully decorated, and contain many precious mosaics and works of art. They are daily visited by lots of visitors who deeply appreciate them.
