Welcome to the ENEL 007 Lab Descriptions

Today's required skills for Engineers in Industry are significantly different from what they used to be 20 years ago:

You have to know your profession.
You have to be able to communicate your ideas.
You have to think in terms of cost effectiveness and financial success.

That is why it is very advantageous for you to get to know about the CAD tool 'MS Project',

MS Project helps you to organize your ideas, optimize your approach and provides you with the materials needed to communicate your solutions successfully to others.

This Web site is intended to provide you with a good working knowledge of MS Project 95.

It is organized as follows:

Lab Instructions:
Here you find all the step by step explanations to guide you through the two labs of this block course.
The first lab is concerned with basic skills and work on a hypothetical course schedule as the project.
The second lab takes a more realistic approach by making you plan your project course schedule (ENEL 583) for the month of September and shows what kind of scheduling and tracking problems you may run into and how to solve them.
Background Info:
Here you can find
General information on Project Management.
Hints for MS Project 95 that can make your lab a lot easier.
A glossary explaining the terms used in the labs and MS Project.

Rob Wolff was responsible for the design and major implimentation of the Laboratory 1 web pages in conjunction with Dr. Smith. You'll find it very intersting reading to see how Rob spent about 150 of his summer hours.

General guide lines for the lab and the course ENEL 007:

Read the Background Information on Project Management first. This is not only generally useful, but a requirement for the   first lab as well and will be tested in the pre-lab quizzes.
To prepare the labs, read through the lab description before you come to the lab. Make sure you understand the ideas involved and have a clear idea of what you are supposed to do during the lab.
The final exam will test you on the lab contents as well as on the lecture material.
For successful completion of the ENEL 007 course you have to:
pass the pre-lab quizzes
pass the labs
pass the final exam

independently from each other (not in average).
