In June 2000, we headed off for a one week cycling tour around the Burrens, a rocky area on the west coast of Ireland. The trip was arranged through Irish Cycling Safaris. Despite some of the "weather" experiences on the following pages, we'd go again on a trip arranged by these guys. ICS also have trips in France, Spain and Italy which should be a great deal of fun if the organization is anything like what we experienced. For more details see ICS web page and bulletin board.

Before the trip -- Limerick and King John's Castle.
Getting Together -- Ennis area
FIRST DAY -- strong head winds, light rain, new bikes, new friends and the wrong side of the road
Gusts to 45 mph -- combination of head winds, following winds, mist and sunny periods, all within 20 kms of each other. Great pub night in Doolin.
Following Wind -- Beautiful day with a run through the Burren along the sea-coast to Ballyvaughan
Sea kayaking -- activities during the rest day.
From Ballyvaughan -- Nice day, till the mist came down.
Gort to Ennis -- Final day of the trip, pleasant, till we meet the wind and traffic on the final run back into Ennis. Includes pictures of the birthday-girl.
After -- Comments on the trip -- TO BE COMPLETED

outside Ryan's Lounge at Kilmilhill after lunch on the first day.
No comments on the 29 km into the wind and light rain.
Hint: Don't wave as the rescue van passes when you have a flat tire,
They just wave back!
